How good is a 2000 chess rating?

A chess rating of 2000 is very good. 2000 rating is the mark of a true chess expert. Of course, even if you’re 2000, there are plenty of grand masters that can demolish you easily. But for non professional chess players, 2000 elo is extremely impressive.

What does a 2000 elo chess rating mean?

The math behind the elo rating system works out in such a way that every difference of 100 elo points corresponds to a 65% chance to win. So for example if a 2000 elo player plays against a 1900 elo player, the 2000 elo player has a 65% chance to win.

How long does it take to get to 2000 chess rating?
